Advisor, Sustainable Development Goals for the state of Arunachal Pradesh, Shri Anindo Mazumdar (IAS Retd.) visited Namsai and held a threadbare discussion with all the district Head of Departments to take stock of the status and achievements of various SDG parameters today at District Secretariat Namsai.

Taking note of the performances of various indicators, he expressed the importance of convergence at ground level. “All goals are interlinked, inclusive development is to be focused. To bring all together holistic development, society is to be activated “, he said.

He urged all to thrust in ensuring Environmental safety and focus on preventive vigilance. Emphasising the importance of early education he advised that students be taught to become socially responsible citizens.

Citing the example of Mizoram, he opined the involvement of socially conscious NGOs for developing the civil society.

Regarding the shortcoming in the implementation of certain schemes, he called upon the departments concerned to improve the delivery mechanism and advised to work in convergence rather than working in silos.

Deputy Commissioner Namsai, Shri R.K Sharma gave a status overview of the district, its achievements in various rural development schemes. Issues such as difficulties faced by the departments in implementing social care schemes due to distinct demography of Namsai, lack of market availability and processing units for palm oil cultivators, HR unavailability in the dept of industries, shortage of science and maths teacher limiting the district in achieving target potential of schemes implemented under important sectors like health, education, drinking water, social sectors, infrastructures, digital connectivity, agri and allied productivity, livelihood sector etc. were highlighted.

DPO, Namsai presented the details on the 17 goals under SDG. He highlighted the present status and aspirational targets.

All the District Head of Offices had detail interaction on various target gaps to take note for improving their performances.

The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by ADC, Namsai.
